Founded in 1904 as Fain Grocery Company in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Merchants Food Service changed its name in 1907 and has grown to be the leading wholesale food distributor and restaurant supplier in the nation with less than 1000 employees. Today, MFS's fleet of multi-temp food distribution trucks supply over 6,000 commercial kitchens in 9 states across the Southeast and has a growing community of delivery talent.
As their company continues to grow, so does the need to hire employees to meet the demand of their business. Merchants Food Service’s recruiting team finds themselves unable meet these new demands alone and has partnered with VRG for support. MFS was in need for multiple Delivery Drivers for multiple locations. The VRG team of sourcing and screening experts were exactly what MFS’ recruiters needed. The goal was to provide only interested and available candidates to the recruiters, and create a pipeline for them to access, interview, and hire for these roles.
After speaking with a Client Manager about their sourcing and screening needs, MFS agreed to VRG’s QAI service package. This service allowed VRG to identify Delivery Driver candidates over a 30 day period and load all qualified and interested candidates into our Resflex Candidate Manager ™ system. VRG’s Reselfex ™ system allows clients to work with the VRG team and review qualified candidates, hotlist great candidates, and provides contact information as well as the finished telephone pre-screening information for the recruiters to utilize.
By resourcing their sourcing and screening needs to VRG, Merchants Food Service’s busy recruiters were able to save time and focus only on candidates that were interested in the Delivery Driver opportunity, allowing them to use their time more efficiently. Through sourcing and screening, the VRG team was able to identify well over 100 candidates for each location where drivers were needed, with over 40 interested candidates each.
